I've been writing country-western and folk songs since 1976, and have won several cash and merchandise prizes. I long ago gave up on Nashville because I don't like what they've done to country music, and moved to Austin, Texas, the "Live Music Capital of the World." Here people appreciate original music and don't expect songwriters to fit into any kind of mold like Nashville does. My husband and I play an occasional open mike, but mostly we play our music for ourselves and friends.
